Panoramic Growth Equity are delighted to announce that portfolio company Specialist Tours (“STL”) has completed the acquisition of Historical Trips Limited, a specialist in historical escorted tours. This is the second acquisition by STL which also includes the business of Andante Travels Limited, acquired in 2013.
Founded and run by historians, the team at Historical Trips is an excellent fit in the STL stable – small group tours, created and led by qualified experts with personal attention to detail for each and every holiday. These are tours which tell the whole story of history’s great event: from the spot where King John signed the Magna Carta at Runnymede; to the rolling plantations of Virginia – where the fate of the United States was decided during the Civil War; to the tranquil Belgium cemetery where the first British soldier to fall in 1914 is buried. Scenes of momentous political and social upheaval and profoundly personal stories of triumph and tragedy.
Michael Ivey founded Historical Trips from his London flat, working with published historians Nigel Jones and Roger Moorhouse. The Historical Trips team are now planning an expanded range of tours for their customers and these are now available for 2015 bookings.
The acquisition is the next step in STL’s growth, with the company now on the lookout for other similar companies to bring into the group.
