David Wilson sits on expert BVCA panel

David Wilson last week sat on the expert panel for the BVCA’s training course, “How to Raise a First Time Fund”.

David was joined by Jeremy Smith from Berkeley Energy and Mark Storey of Alcuin Capital Partners to participate in a lively debate looking at the issues faced by fund managers looking to raise their first fund.  The session was chaired by Bernard de Backer from Parish Capital.  A range of subjects were covered including fund positioning, marketing, fund economics, the use of placing agents, track record presentation and closing.  The event was attended by over 100 people including many actively in the market together with their advisers and agents.  After the event, David was able to give some more detailed tips to those he spoke to and came away with a strong sense, that in spite of the incredibly tough economic environment, there is still plenty of appetite to bring new funds to the market.

The event was sponsored by Augentius Fund Administration, who provide a fully outsourced fund administration and reporting service to Panoramic’s Enterprise Capital Fund 1 LP.
